Hi !  i threw this Web site together when considering how to tell people about my poetry book, so here we go... Paul

Welcome to the Web site of my little poetry book Foibles, Frolics and Phantasms, the book consists of poems I have written from around 1995 to 2005. The poems mainly consider the conflicts or struggles that we all face, perhaps unconsiously, in coming to terms with our urban and natural environment as complex individuals. Perhaps the best way to sum up the book would be to cite the back cover text:

A thought-provoking collection of highly original poems, encompassing the intellectual, the contemplative, the weird and the macabre. Explore visions of dank, creeping natural forces and dark, abstract reflections on urban life.

Join the poet on a surreal journey through maturity and experience, depicting our human condition through an intimate and intense landscape of vivid expressionist imagery, conceived by a poet who is also an artist. The poems are often accompanied by illustrations (also by the author), which provide a symbolic narrative complementary to the text. Explored also are the historical, linguistic and cultural upheavals of the author’s locality, North Wales, conveyed through reflections on changes in the natural and urban environment.

Paul Catherall is a native of North Wales, and is an Information Professional working in the Higher Education sector. Paul also writes for journals and has written a book dealing with the management of online learning systems in Higher Education. This is the first published collection of poems by Paul Catherall in the UK or USA.
